Abstract
Study meaning behind the cover of Tempo magazine. This research gave an explanation of the meaning of Tempo magazine cover visualisation “rekening gendut perwira polisi”. The cover becomes a controversy according to the police department. The cover visualisation is presented by adopting semiotic approach, the concept of Barthes structuralism, in which the meaning is built the social relations between visual element with another verbal element, and caption with the approach the concept of sintagmatic-paradigmatic and denotation-conotation. The paper discuss how the cover of Tempo magazine accused of “rekening gendut perwira polisi” represented in corruption visual reality described by Tempo.
