Abstract

The focus of this research was to understand the management of student development with extracurricular excursions in Faculty of Visual Arts, Jakarta Institute of the Arts. It was qualitative research with study case method conducted in Jakarta. To know how the management of student development through extracurricular excursions in Faculty of Visual Arts, Jakarta Institute of the Arts. The focus of the research are (1) the planning of the excursions; (2) the organizing of the excursions; (3) the leadership of the excursions; (4) the controlling of the excursions at Faculty of Visual Arts, Jakarta Institute of the Arts. The approach used in this research was qualitative approach and used case study as the design. Data collection was done by the researcher herself as a key instrument. While snowball sampling technique used to determine the sources of data. The data of the research were gathered through interview, participant observation, and documentation. Then, to analyze the data, the researcher used descriptive technique which had three phase, those are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. There are some interesting conclusions in this research, include: excursion integrated between the vision, mission, tri dharma and creative industries program. Strategic planning to maintain a commitment to continue the tradition of excursion. Spirit of kinship between FSR IKJ with local peoples. The mechanism of the formation of a structured organization with a spirit of togetherness. Organizing systematic regeneration dynamic and proportional division of roles. Professional transformational leadership as a mover and dissemination influence. Entrepreneurial leadership, networking opportunities with stakeholders. Internal control structured and systematic.
