Abstract
Movie narrates the story in limited duration. Gestalt psychology’s law of closure suggests that human brain tends to fill in gaps to perceive complete form. Audience mind has spontaneous ability to perceive the whole scene based on fragmented pieces of information they receive. Some parts in the movie Joker (2019) allow the audience to interpret it differently in their mind. An online form was conducted to understand audience perception regarding the whole movie and some sequences in that movie, especially the offscreen scenes. The result reveals several factors that construct patterns of audience perception.
